The Route of the First Month
Working translation. Synchronized with the Russian corpus as of 2026-10-25. Canonical formulas are binding only in the Russian original; publication — after human review.
The path from "read" to "live" takes thirty days — one step a day, without feats. The route is entirely voluntary: you missed a day — continue with the next. There are no punishments here for falling behind: everything is decided not at the beginning but at the end of time.
How to Use It
- The diary is your property. No one checks the entries: we do not read other people's diaries (surveillance is a claim to omniscience).
- A mentor is a person who has himself walked this route. He answers questions and does not evaluate.
- While there is no community (the network phase), instead of the Quiet Evening go to the dialogue meeting of the teaching: an exposition of one node of the teaching, questions in the frame "check me," a minute of re-understanding (see the Phases of the Network Strategy). The Quiet Evening will appear with the birth of the community — the route is the same, the form of the meeting is different.
Week 1 — To See
Day 1. Start the diary of thoughts and deeds. One question in the evening: "And today — what have I done for tomorrow?" An honest answer without excuses. Five minutes.
Day 2. Morning: two minutes of silence and the question "And today — what have I done for tomorrow?". Evening: the diary.
Day 3. Remember a person to whom you caused pain and did not repair it. Do not repair it yet — simply write it down: the name, what happened, how it ended. Tomorrow you will understand why today.
Day 4. Come to an open meeting (while there is no community — a dialogue one). Once. Listen to the exposition of one node of the teaching, stand through a minute of silence. Afterward — leave or stay to talk, as you wish.
Day 5. Read The Catechism in 5 Minutes. Write down one question you disagree with. Disagreement is a lawful way to read.
Day 6. Evening: the diary. Fill in all four sections — especially the fourth: what new did I learn today?
Day 7. Review of the week: of what am I more than a week ago? Of what am I emptier? Without self-evaluation — simply facts.
Week 2 — To Repair One Thing
Day 8. Choose one thing from the diary — the one that has long waited and that you have long remembered. Call, return, apologize, finish. One, not all at once: a repair is not instant. The first repair is not the last.
Day 9. Write down what came of it. Even if you were refused: repair is not in receiving forgiveness, but in the deed done.
Day 10. Read the 12 Commandments — all of them, with the hierarchy. Mark the one that comes hardest to you. Do not work on it yet — simply know.
Day 11. Open meeting (dialogue or the Quiet Evening — whichever there is).
Day 12. Get to know a mentor, if you have not yet. Ask him about his "one repair" — everyone has one.
Day 13. Evening: the diary. Question of the week: to whom am I in debt — and what can I give without counting?
Day 14. Do one creation "into the drawer": help no one will see. The diary will record it — no one else needs to.
Week 3 — To Hear Others
Day 15. Ask someone close: "What have I caused you and not repaired?" Listen to the end, without defending yourself. This is the hardest exercise of the month.
Day 16. Do not answer at once. The diary: what I heard.
Day 17. Repair what you heard — if you can. If you cannot — say so honestly: an honest limit is better than an empty promise.
Day 18. Open meeting.
Day 19. Read The Creed and the Defense of the Teaching. Check us against all five signs of a sect. If even one matches — tell the mentor directly.
Day 20. Read one parable from the Canonical Parables. Enter into the diary in whom from your life it echoed.
Day 21. Review of three weeks: what has changed in your three evening questions? (The most valuable thing is not the answers, but how the questions changed.)
Week 4 — The First Repair
Day 22. Choose one repair of the week — and carry it through to the end. Carried through — not perfect: carried through.
Day 23. Come to the Sunday Table (the big, open one — once a month; ask the mentor for the date), if it already exists in your city. The bread is shared, the talk is shared. If there is no community nearby yet — the big table will appear later: skip the day, the steps are not cancelled.
Day 24. Evening: the diary. Add a fifth question: what of what I began will remain after me?
Day 25. Begin one "begun thing" that will outlive a week: a letter, planting a tree, a shelf, a lesson. Not scale — finishability: you will finish it by day 30.
Day 26. Finish reading the Introduction and reread the guide. Does it look different already? Note what.
Day 27. Ask the mentor about his Path — what changed in his first year.
Day 28. Carry the "begun thing" through. Complete it. Write down what it is like — to complete.
Day 29. Open meeting. If you wish — say to the circle one line about your month (one line, not a confession: confession has its own place and time).
Day 30. Sum of the month. Three questions in writing: what do I now see that I did not see a month ago; what of this do I do myself, and what — only with the community; do I want to continue.
After Day 30
Two honest exits, both open:
"I continue." The next circle — Taking the Covenant not earlier than three months from coming to the meetings (in the network phase — to the dialogue meetings) and after the completed route of the first month: a calm state — that is the whole threshold; a decision is not made on the high of the first months. Until the Covenant — the Quiet Evening, the Table, service by strength; to the Evening of Unity the walker comes after the Covenant, as a covenant guest. After a year of the path and the community's recognition — the sign.
"Not mine." Also an honest exit. Keep the diary — it is yours. The warning you heard remains your knowledge: you know — you have the head start; repair while alive by your own rules; the afterlife does not ask for membership. The door is not boarded up — it opens with returning.
To the mentor of the walker: the mentoring guide.
