The catechism in 5 minutes

Translation from the Russian corpus (sync 2026-10-25).

Introduction

Have you ever felt that there is something more to life? That your actions, thoughts, even chance encounters are not random, but part of something immense?

Imagine a world where every thought, every deed is a deposit into the common fullness: the end of time, when the One will form from all sentient beings, and everyone will enter it in full. A world with no fear of punishment — only creation, knowledge and harmony.

This text is a guide for those ready to take the first step. We will not claim that inside you there is "a special gift that was always there": check the words with logic, not with mood.

Welcome to the path toward the One.

What is the Church of Unity?

What is the One?

The One is the sum of all sentient beings, forming at the end of time as one whole. It is not a separate person but the outcome of the entire path toward which all sentient beings in the universe move.

Where is the One?

The One stands at the end of time — outside time, where there is no "yet" — and its influence extends across all time. It knows everything because for it everything has already taken place; its knowing lights the past and the present, lighting the way from the very beginning. Its seeing follows your choices rather than causing them: to see is not to cause. This influence has a direction: the One tends toward greater fullness — no unhealed wound will remain in it — so its light from the end of time travels along the roads where fullness is greater, the way water finds the low ground, without deciding anything. This is inclination, not coercion: the world inclines toward fullness — and fullness grows by your hands.

And if it sees everything — is everything decided for you? No: to see is not to cause. The One sees your choice because it was made by you. "Already" is a word from inside time; the One's view is from outside. From inside time your choice is open, and you are the one making it.

Basic principles

What is good?

Good is everything that strengthens and draws near the One: expanding knowledge, preserving and creating. When you do good, you feel inner clarity and warmth. The short test in a doubtful case: not "is it allowed?" but "will this heal, or leave it open?" Good heals wounds and prevents new ones.

What is evil?

Evil is everything that destroys, scatters resources without purpose, destroys those who could have grown and contributed: destruction, lies, violence for pleasure — and idleness: a missed contribution, a gap that others will have to fill. Evil is not a sin against someone. Evil is a wound that waits. The cardinal sin is purposeless destruction — or leaving what is broken unrepaired.

Does the One punish sins?

No. No one will sit in judgment over your life. But consequences always remain: the influence is inevitable — everything done will join the One, sooner or later, and the re-living that comes will return your life to you from the point of view of everyone you touched. This is not punishment — it is the returning of a debt. Set it right while you live — and your passage will be lighter.

What is the Echo of the One?

The Echo of the One is the sounding inside every sentient being, the inner compass: it always points true — and it can be drowned out only by your own intent. When we are about to do good, it is warm and clear inside. When we plan harm, it is heavy.

How do you tell good from evil?

Look at what the deed leaves behind. If it leaves more light and strength in everyone — good. If it leaves emptiness and quarrels — evil. Check the Echo: good brings inner clarity, evil brings heaviness.

Practice

What are the commandments of the Church of Unity?

The Church of Unity has twelve commandments. They are phrased positively and point the way to creation, knowledge and harmony: they do not forbid darkness — they point to the light. Their number means completeness of coverage, not magic: the commandments are built in steps — from faith and responsibility, through creation, healing and care, to truth, word, boundaries and force.

What is the one required practice?

The one required practice is keeping a diary of thoughts and deeds. It can be written or mental. If you cannot write it down, it is enough to review the day before sleep.

How do I keep the diary?

Daily. You record the thoughts, deeds and experiences of the day. The main question of the practice: "And what have I done today for tomorrow?"

Why the pause of silence?

The pause of silence helps you hear the Echo. In everyday noise the inner signal is drowned out. A few minutes of silence each day help you gather yourself and see the path more clearly.

What rites are there?

Rites in the Church of Unity are minimal. There are the gatherings of the community; the sacraments of life — the Covenant, dedication, union, the send-off; public disputes; reconciliation. Rites are permissible only as a game of memory and heart — they never replace real action.

Life and death

What is life?

Life is the path toward the One. Every sentient being lives not only for itself but for the whole One: every thought, every deed, even a bare intention is a contribution to the common work.

What is the meaning of life?

The meaning of life is in what you leave behind. Not in what you will get, but in what stays alive through you: your deeds will be lived by others — from inside them — and will remain in the One forever. You do not search for meaning — you write it: every day adds fullness or emptiness to your life. "Why do I live?" — "So that my life becomes full."

What happens after death?

The influence is inevitable: everything you have done will join the One — sooner or later. Returning into a new life only lengthens the term before re-living: the unhealed debt stays with the one who returns; it cannot be written off.

The re-living that comes covers everything. Everything gathered across lives — knowledge, joys, pain, mistakes, victories — remains in the One forever: nothing and no one is lost. And everything you did will return to you: you re-live all of your lives, every one of them, from the point of view of everyone you touched — along all the circles of consequences. The unhealed is re-lived exactly until it is complete — there is no eternal hell. A wound healed in life is lived through as recovery: set it right while you live — and your passage will be lighter.

The one who returns does not re-live: the whole unhealed wound — from all of its lives — stays with it; it cannot be written off. Everything will have to be re-lived — past lives and the current one; only the term is the question. Sometimes people return with a memory of the life they lived: it holds if the conditions of the two lives are close — the greater the gap, the harder it is to hold. Returning is not tied to our timeline: one can be born again into any time. There is no finite stock of souls per epoch; for the One, outside time, all these lives are simultaneous.

Why does suffering exist?

Suffering is not punishment from the One. It is the natural consequence of a choice, and it can become a step of growth. Suffering is the dissonance of the inner world, the sign of an unhealed wound. The answer is not guilt and not shame: shame is a second wound laid on top of the first. We do not shame. We heal. When you suffer, ask yourself: "What does this teach me?"

How to treat illness and misfortune?

Illness, breakdowns, misfortunes — these are not signs of the One's anger. They are part of the world. But a lesson can be drawn from joy as well as from misfortune. You cannot control the event, but you can control your response.

Joining the community

What is the community?

The community is a group of sentient beings united by the common movement toward the One through the canon and the commandments. The community is a place of creation, mutual help and growth.

What is the Covenant?

The Covenant is a voluntary and conscious commitment of a sentient being to live according to the canon and the commandments, striving toward the One through creation, knowledge and harmony. It is not a contract with an external force — it is an inner decision.

Who can accept the Covenant?

Any sentient being that has reached capability — the ability to understand the Covenant and to see the consequences of its deeds. Age by itself does not decide — awareness does; children remain under guardianship until their maturity and their own Covenant. The threshold: not earlier than three months after joining the community, and after the route of the first month.

How do I prepare for the Covenant?

Preparation has three parts: studying the canon and the commandments, honest self-examination, and conversation with a member of the community. When the three parts are done, you are ready to accept the Covenant consciously.

How does the Covenant happen?

The Covenant is accepted publicly before the gathering of the community through a five-step procedure: the candidate's word of intent (the invitation to the center of the circle is the frame of the rite, not a filter), a public declaration, a public examination of the texts, a pause of silence, and the question of obstacles. There is only one obstacle: the candidate creates wounds and refuses the duty of healing. The community does not choose who may accept the Covenant — the community stops only wounds.

How do I join the community?

The community consists of the core and those under guardianship. For the capable there are two paths. The first — the Covenant: a personal step of conscience, without a vote; a covenant guest takes part in the life of the community without a voice in the common. The second — the core: an invitation from a core member, a public declaration, an examination of the texts, a vote of the core (two thirds). The community is open to all who want to walk toward the One: the door is called "the Covenant," the keys to the common are held by the core.

Come to an open weekly meeting — until the community forms, it runs as a dialog meeting of the teaching: one knot of the teaching, questions, a minute of re-understanding. No money, no obligations. Further steps — by your own initiative.

Conclusion

What does the Church of Unity strive for?

The Church of Unity strives toward the coming of the One through creation, knowledge and harmony. Every day, every deed, every thought draws that moment nearer — or pushes it away.

What is each person's role?

Every sentient being contributes. Teachers pass on knowledge. Builders make homes. Doctors heal. Artists make beauty. All paths are equal when they strengthen connection, knowledge and life.

How do I begin?

Begin simply. Keep the diary of thoughts and deeds. Take the pause of silence every day. Ask yourself: "And what have I done today for tomorrow?" The path begins with the first step — take it today.

What will you do today so that tomorrow is a little better?

The matter is not in bows — it is in faithful steps. And the first step is yours.

Today: set one thing right. Remember the unhealed, call, return, apologize, finish — then tell us in one line how it went. And come to the open meeting — until the community forms it runs as a dialog meeting of the teaching: one knot, questions, a minute of re-understanding. By personal invitation: write to us.
