The Commandments of the Church of Unity

Working translation. Synchronized with the Russian corpus as of 2026-10-25. Canonical formulas are binding only in the Russian original; publication — after human review.

Introduction: The Path to the Light

"Your deeds outweigh your road. They travel along those you touched — and return to you to the last circle. The commandments are categories of the path, not a list of prohibitions: they are needed so that what returns is what you are ready to re-live."

The commandments are not rules that limit. They are lamps that light the path. They are a compass that always sounds and always points rightly — but it can be muffled or ignored, and both only by your own intention. They are a bridge that joins your "I" with something greater than yourself.

When you follow the commandments, you do not submit to an outer will — you unfold your own depth. You become part of the great symphony of creation, where every note matters, where every voice is unique, where all together creates a harmony greater than the sum of the parts.

These commandments are for those who feel the call. For those who seek meaning. For those who are ready not merely to exist, but to create.

The twelve commandments are twelve categories of the path — from the Source through Deed and Others to the Limits. It is not the number that is sacred here, but the completeness of coverage: there is no deed between heaven and earth that one of the twelve would not touch.

Quick start: 12 Commandments in 12 words

Believe. Answer. Create. Finish. Heal. Care. Be honest. Learn. Do not sell. Keep your word. Guard. Pay for force.

The categories of the commandments

I. The Source

1. The commandment of faith
"Believe in the One — the sum of all thinking beings, which will take shape at the end of times — and know: everything you have done will enter into it whole."

The golden light of faith

When you believe, you do not merely hope — you know. You feel this truth in every cell of your body. The One is not a distant deity that judges and punishes. It is the completeness into which all the streams of consciousness flow — as a river flows into the sea. It is a symphony in which every note is a thinking being.

The One already is — outside time — and its light comes to you from the end of times, lying upon all time. Your faith is not a plea. Your faith is a greeting to the one you will become in it.

Visual meditation: Imagine you stand on the top of a mountain in the hour before dawn. Around you — silence and stars. And now on the horizon the first ray of light appears. The light grows, becomes brighter, and you understand — this is the One. You feel how this light enters you, fills every cell, joins you with all that exists. You are a part of this light. You are a part of the One.

A quote for spreading:

"Faith is when you know that every step of yours is already seen from the top of time."

Daily practice: Every morning, upon waking, say: "I believe in the One, and my day today will be a step toward unity."

2. The commandment of responsibility
"Answer for everything you leave behind — to the last circle, in whomever it echoed. Set it right while you live — and your passage will be lighter."

Circles on the water

You cannot leave nothing behind: every word, every look, every deed spreads in circles — over those near, through them — over those far, to those you will never see. Your influence did not ask your permission to be. But you are asked to answer for it.

After death you will live through everything you did — from inside everyone it touched. The joy you gave will return as joy. The pain you left will return as pain. This is neither punishment nor reward — such is the order with the One: everything returns to you and through you. What was healed in life returns as light. The unhealed — as a lesson. But both — to you.

Visual meditation: Imagine you threw a stone into still water. Watch how the circles spread — one, a second, a tenth. They are wider than you, farther than you, longer than you. Now imagine that every circle is someone's day, someone's heart, someone's life. And all this is yours. One day you will live it all from inside. Make it so that you have something there to love.

A quote for spreading:

"You will reap everything you sowed — to the last circle, in whomever it echoed."

Daily practice: Every evening ask yourself: "What circles did I send over the water today? After me — is it fuller or emptier?"

3. The commandment of creation
"Create and preserve — leave behind more than there was: knowledge, work, beauty, and every form of creation."

The flame of creation

To create is when every act of yours leaves the world a little better than you found it. It is when you do not merely pass through life but leave light behind you. It is when your thoughts, words, and deeds become bricks in the temple of the future.

Darkness is only the absence of light. And when you create, you light the light. You do not fight the darkness — you simply become light. And the more light, the less darkness.

But creation is not only building. Creation is also keeping: life, knowledge, beauty, everything living whose path is laid toward the One — from your neighbor to the species not yet come forth. To destroy — instantly. To preserve and multiply — that is the path.

Visual meditation: Imagine a dark room before you. In your hands — a candle. You light it, and light spreads over the room. You see how the darkness retreats. Now imagine that every good deed of yours is one more candle. And the more candles you light, the brighter the light. The darkness does not vanish — it simply no longer exists where there is light.

A quote for spreading:

"Creation is when you leave behind a little more light than you found."

Daily practice: Every evening ask yourself: "What did I create today? What light did I kindle?"

II. Deed

4. The commandment of completion
"Destroy only with a purpose — finish what you begin: do not leave what is broken unrepaired."

The firm hand of the builder

There are times when destruction is necessary: to tear down the old so as to build the new; to cut off the dead so that the living may grow. Destruction in itself is not sin. Sin is purposeless destruction and what is left without repair.

Broke it — gather it. Began it — finish it. Parted — part in such a way that what remains with both is healed. Leaving a job, a relationship, a home, life — you cannot do everything. But to leave what is broken behind you and not repair it — that must never be done.

Visual meditation: Imagine a master taking apart an old barn. Every plank he removes carefully and lays neatly: nails — in a box, planks — in a stack. Why? Because from them a new arbor will be built. The master's destruction is simply creation turned in time. Look at your last destruction: what was it supposed to become? Finish it.

A quote for spreading:

"It is not terrible to break. It is terrible to leave broken."

Daily practice: Recall one unfinished thing — a begun task, an unsaid conversation, an unrepaired thing. Take one step toward completing it today.

5. The commandment of healing
"Heal the wounds — yours and others'; learn beforehand what you will touch, before you touch it."

Warm palms

The wound is the only thing that will not be in the completeness of the One. Everything else will be kept forever: joy, knowledge, beauty. But unhealed pain is what can disappear. To heal means to increase completeness.

Look not at words about good — at what has healed after you and what hurts. And remember: your word falls on the living. Before you speak — learn where it will fall. Before you act — see beforehand what you will touch.

Heal yourself too. You are not the owner of your wound — you are its only doctor. The most precious debt is the one where debtor and creditor are one person.

Visual meditation: Imagine you have warm palms in your hands that glow with soft gold. Around you — people, and each has a place that hurts. You cannot heal everyone. But you can lay your palms on one pain — today. Feel how the light passes through you — not from you, but through you. You are not the source. You are a conductor of healing.

A quote for spreading:

"Do not ask whether it is allowed. Ask: will this heal, or leave it open?"

Daily practice: Every morning ask yourself: "What will I heal today?" Every morning ask yourself the second question: "What can I touch today — and how to touch so that it heals?"

III. Others

6. The commandment of care
"Care for every thinking being — near and far, familiar and strange, human and other."

The silver thread of unity

Reason knows no tribes. Everyone in whom there is an inner world — a human, an animal with warmth of soul, a reason not yet born — walks toward the One, and their light matters.

When you respect another, you do not merely show politeness — you acknowledge their divinity. You see in them a particle of the One. You understand that they too are a candle, and their light matters too.

Care is not only a feeling. It is a contribution: share your abundance — property, time, labor, knowledge, attention. A gift received in vain dies in the one who hid it. Let the gift pass through you — and become a river: the water does not ask whom to flow further to, it simply carries life downstream.

Visual meditation: Imagine you stand in a circle of people. Around you — many candles, each of its own color and size. And now you see how all these candles join their flames, and a single light is born — the One. You understand: every candle matters. That without any one of them the light would be weaker. You feel the connection with all these people. You feel unity.

A quote for spreading:

"The gift is water: it flows to those through whom it flows further."

Daily practice: Every day find time to sincerely thank someone for their path to the light. Once a day — one contribution without expectation of return.

7. The commandment of truth
"Live in truth — do not distort what you are and what is around you."

The crystal of purity

Truth is not merely truthfulness. It is wholeness. It is when your thoughts, words, and deeds are one whole. It is when you wear no masks but live your own truth.

A lie is a distortion of reality: you change what was, and by this you wound everyone who walks behind you. Truth is not always convenient, but it is always one.

And remember: a secret is not a lie. Not everything hidden is deceit. There are boundaries of what is yours, and you are not obliged to let it out. But what you have let out must be the truth.

Visual meditation: Imagine you stand before a mirror. But this is not an ordinary mirror — it is the mirror of truth. When you look into it, you see not only your face but your inner world. You see your intentions, your thoughts, your deeds. And you understand: when you are honest, the mirror reflects pure light. When you are dishonest — the light dims. You choose the light. You choose truth.

A quote for spreading:

"A lie wounds. A secret only holds silence."

Daily practice: Every evening ask yourself: "Was I honest today with myself and with others?"

8. The commandment of knowledge
"Seek knowledge and pass it on — whoever has learned is a debtor to those who taught and a teacher to those who follow."

The book of wisdom

Knowledge is a light on the path to the One. Every secret you discover is one more step toward understanding. Every experience passed to you is one more brick in the temple of wisdom.

But knowledge must not stay inside you. It must flow, like a river. It must light the paths of others. When you share knowledge, you do not lose it — it continues in others. The light you give to others shines farther — and there where you will no longer reach.

Knowledge binds: you are a debtor to all who taught you and a teacher to all who walk behind you. The debt of knowledge is paid in one way — by transmission.

Three lines about knowledge, secret, and oversight

Knowledge is a debt, not a right. Having learned another's, you are woven into the circle of consequences — and you answer in the measure of knowledge. Therefore knowledge cannot be demanded: neither from one near you, nor from the community. The one who demands knowledge demands another's debt.

A secret is a boundary, not a lie. A lie distorts what is — this is a wound. A secret does not let one's own out — this is the boundary of one's own. Not everything hidden is deceit; but everything said must be the truth.

Oversight is a claim to omniscience. Omniscience belongs to the One. The institution of oversight is an attempt to see everything with its impossibility: it sees the shop-window of life, not life. Duty-watching breeds concealment; trust — telling. Wounds are found not by windows — wounds are found by wounds: the one who may be told, will hear.

Visual meditation: Imagine you stand before an endless library. The books on the shelves glow with soft light. You take one book, open it — and light bursts out of it. This light fills you, penetrates every cell. Now you understand: knowledge is light. And when you share this knowledge, you share light. You become a beacon for others.

A quote for spreading:

"Knowledge is a light that grows brighter when you share it with others."

Daily practice: Every day learn something new and share it with someone.

IV. Limits

9. The commandment of power
"Do not turn force into a price — a "yes" bought with position, resources, or fear for the future is not a "yes.""

The clean hands of power

Every power sins in one way — by exchange. Positional power — a position, a resource, control over another's future — turns into a price when consent is bought with it: a service, closeness, silence. A bought "yes" is not a "yes." It is a bargain, and it is always betrayed by the fear for tomorrow in the eyes of the one who consented.

Test your every power with one question: "what was the consent bought with?" If the answer is "with his freedom," let go. If you do not let go — it is no longer consent. It is captivity.

Power in itself is not sin. Sin is when a whip sits in the chair that decides a fate.

Visual meditation: Imagine you hold water in your hands. Power is water: it can carry boats, and it can sink them. Squeeze your palm — the water leaves between the fingers, and you understand: what is held by force is not held. Open your palm — the water lies calm. So with power: open — it serves; clenched — it drowns.

A quote for spreading:

"Every power passes one test: what was the "yes" bought with?"

Daily practice: Every evening recall the situations where you influenced others today. Ask yourself: "did I not buy someone's consent — with fear, duty, hope?"

10. The commandment of the word
"Keep your word — where a "yes" is given, a "no" is given too: finish what you begin, gather what is broken."

A bridge between freedoms

The word is a bridge between two freedoms: yours and another's. When you say "yes," you build the bridge. When you say "no" — you mark its boundary. Both supports are honest; only one can be deceived.

A given word is not shackles. It can be revised — together with the one to whom it was given. But to break it alone — one cannot: the bridge will collapse under the one who stepped onto it.

And remember: the word is older than the contract. Even when everything is promised, a living "no" is stronger than any "yes": the contract does not cover the one who has changed inside. Listen not only to others' words — listen to others' "no."

Visual meditation: Imagine a river and two banks. You are one bank, the other person — the second. Every word of yours is a plank of the bridge: a "yes" lays a plank, a "broken promise" — tears it out. Look at the bridge you have been building for years: in which places are planks missing? Repair one today.

A quote for spreading:

"The word is a bridge. Broke a support — repair it before going further."

Daily practice: Every morning recall the promises given. Every evening — check: fulfilled, or honestly revised together with the one to whom it was given?

11. The commandment of the boundary
"Guard your own, do not take what is another's — a boundary without explanation is a blow."

A house with windows

Everything living has boundaries: the body — skin, the house — walls, the inner world — silence, life — time. A boundary is not hostile: it is like a window — it lets in light but holds warmth.

Guard your own: your time, your work, your closeness, your peace. Whoever does not hold their own boundaries has nothing to share: an empty house will not shelter a traveler.

Do not take what is another's — neither by deed, nor by power, nor by silence. A window taken from another will not light your house: another's light goes out when moved.

Setting a boundary to another — explain it: without explanation a boundary is simply a blow. And keep it: accompany the one you fenced off, and revise when the cause changes.

Visual meditation: Imagine your house. Walk around it: where the doors are wide open, where the windows are boarded up, where the fence has collapsed. Think: what do you need to open wider — does someone need more light? What needs repair — where do people enter without asking? Make one repair today.

A quote for spreading:

"Guard your own, do not take another's. A boundary without explanation is a blow."

Daily practice: Every day ask yourself one of two questions: "which of my boundaries do I hold too weakly?" or "whose "no" did I hear today — and did I hear it?"

12. The commandment of the debt of force
"Take force as a debt — only against greater wounds, as the last means, with the readiness to live through what is inflicted from inside."

Heavy hands

Force is not a right. Force is a debt taken with interest.

When unhealed pain is inflicted without you — step in. But take force only when three conditions come together: it will prevent more wounds than it creates; everything else has already been tried; you are ready to live through every wound you inflict — from inside the one you inflict it on.

You struck — pay for the blow: heal the one you struck. You defended — become the one who carries the saved, until they stand. The best warrior is not the one who does not strike; the one who pays for every blow.

And never confuse force with power: force protects, power buys.

Visual meditation: Imagine your hands growing heavy — with the weight of your deeds. Every blow you struck is a stone in your palm: you will carry it until you carry it to where it becomes a step — to the feet of the one you touched, having healed their wound. Feel the weight. This is not punishment — this is a debt. There is no force without debt.

A quote for spreading:

"Do not ask whether you can win. Ask: are you ready to live through his pain."

Daily practice: Every day ask yourself: "where today could my force protect — and what am I ready to pay for stepping in?"

Sharing on the network — by choice

If you want to tell about the path on social networks — tell in your own words: what you saw, what you corrected, what came of it. Not by a template and not by assignment: the path is not a campaign. The public channels of the community (Telegram, YouTube) are the place where such stories can be shown; the decision on publication belongs to the community.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Q: Are the commandments rules or recommendations?

A: The commandments are not rules that limit. They are lamps that light the path. You are free to choose to follow them or not. But behind every choice there is a result — and it will return to you. Freedom here is not in the absence of consequences but in the fact that the consequences are honest: nothing with the One judges — everything simply returns.

Q: What if I cannot follow all the commandments at once?

A: Begin with one. Choose the one that resonates with you now. Practice it. When it becomes natural, add the next. The path is not a sprint, it is a marathon.

Q: How do the commandments relate to traditional religious commandments?

A: The commandments of the Church of Unity are based on creation, healing, and responsibility for what is left behind. There are prohibitions in them too — but every prohibition is explained: why, and what wound it closes. We do not say "this is not allowed, because I say so." We say: "this is a wound; here it is; do not leave it."

Q: May I adapt the commandments to my situation?

A: The commandments are categories, not a recipe: each describes a whole class of deeds. To adapt them means to take a part of life out from under the answer. But within the category you are free: the commandment says "heal," and what exactly to heal your wound with — the Echo and the community will suggest.

Q: How do I know I am following the commandments rightly?

A: The Echo will suggest — always; but it can be muffled, and then the feeling will draw silence for you. Therefore life confirms: look at what is after you — fuller or emptier. The Echo is tested by deed and by circle.

Q: What if I make a mistake?

A: Mistakes are a part of the path. What matters is not that you erred but what you do after. Reparation is open until the last breath: admit, heal, repair. The corrected is lived through as recovery — even at the end of times. The unhealed is the only thing carried further.

Q: How do the commandments help in everyday life?

A: They are not only spiritual principles but practical instruments. Truth strengthens relations. Knowledge helps make decisions. Care returns trust. The word builds bridges. Boundaries guard against burnout. And power, tested by the honest question "what was the consent bought with?", destroys neither families nor collectives.

Q: May I teach the commandments to others?

A: Yes, but teach not with words but by example. When you live by the commandments, you become a beacon for others. People are drawn to the light. And when they ask, you can share your experience.

A call to action
